Mr. Jobs Speaks

This column will appear for informational purposes only. We intend to talk about employment related issues and questions about the work in today’s world.

So, you're out of school...

Well, the holidays are over and now since you graduated from school, you finally can catch a breath. No more responsibilities - you can wake up late, watch some TV, eat a late lunch and then get dressed. After so many days, you come to the conclusion that it is time to find a job. There is no longer the crutch of parents, care takers, grandparents; you are now a full fledged adults. No free rent or money for gas or bus tickets; you are on your own. First, you will have to organize your resume, then; star your networks and most frightening, get up everyday and work towards you vocational goals.

One of your daily activities should be getting to the library and organized you job search. Get on the computers and check out open options to identify employers and contact names. Do a crosswalk to identify transferable skills. Make a list of employers that you would like to work for. Do some research to find out more about the company. Once you have selected one or more make some contacts, send a resume and set an appointment.

Don't break the resolution of working in 2005!
